We certainly get our kicks from eclectic, vintage-y homes with lots of color and texture, but we're equally drawn to clean and minimalist interiors — homes that feel like a breath of fresh air. (A good attitude to get in with the Green Cure starting next week...)
This renovation of this cottage, done by New York architect Messana O'Rorke, retained the basic frame and form of the 1734 original, as well as the wattle and daub wall in the field stone basement...

I can't imagine anything better than lying in that tub on a rainy day.

I've always dreamt of living in such a beautifully peaceful home. And then the reality of a 2 year old, a dog, a puttering husband, and two jobs I love sets in. But just looking at these pictures is an invitation to keep the dream alive!

A fireplace is incompatible with Green. It's a giant hole in your house that sucks out the hot air. Burning wood causes deforestation and contributes to climate change. Not to mention the particulates that aggravate asthma and cause lung cancer. Just say no to fireplaces.
