We're spending some time this week in Southern California -- enjoying the sunshine, relaxing at the beach, and scoping out green houses and projects.
We've been watching this particular project in Ventura, Ca since 2004 or so. At that point, it was just a slideshow and the dream of a few local artists and city officials. Now, it's becoming a reality.

This is what it looks like right now -- yep, it's just a site, but that's a huge step for the WAV (Working Artists Ventura) project.
When it is completed, WAV will provide affordable live/work space for artists in Ventura, Ca, a community that values artists but simultaneously has a median home price which makes it nearly impossible for them to live there. This is the city's solution.
Along with the affordable live/work spaces there will also be a number of market-rate condos for sale, and space for arts'-friendly merchants at the street level. The project will be the first LEED-certified affordable housing project in Ventura County and the second in all of California.
We're excited to see this long-awaited project come to life. And, when it does, we promise a comprehensive tour!

I live about 45 minutes south of Ventura (the city). Keep us posted. I took a quick peek at the website and it looks fascinating. Thanks for the info. Great to know that my stomping grounds in Ventura (the County) has some green stuff going for it.
