Owners Jora and Bryan remodeled a hillside home into their MidCentury-style dream home with an evident focus upon its greatest asset: the unbelievable view. The house is quite a showcase, filled with a tasteful assortment of thoughtfully chosen furnishings and an open-space floor plan that extends out into their expansive backyard where surprises like a hanging hillside deck, organic garden and even a chicken coop take advantage of their property expanse. We're wholeheartedly envious, but we're glad to be able to share a peek inside such a showcase home...

AT Survey:

My/Our style: Mid-century modern with an organic feel.

Inspiration: The windows and views.

Favorite Element: Again, the windows and views!

Biggest Challenge: Having some dangerous areas in the house for our two small children (open staircases, wide railings, several balconies, etc.), yet wanting to maintain as much of the original design and features as possible. Also, this was our first ever home remodel so we had a huge learning curve.

What Friends Say: The house is so open and bright!

Biggest Embarrassment: The laundry room/storage area. It is a disaster!

Proudest DIY: The vegetable garden and raising chickens.

Biggest Indulgence: Our bathtub in the master bathroom (a WetStyle soaking tub)...let’s just say we committed to buying it at the beginning of the project. Had we made the decision later on, we probably wouldn’t have indulged quite a bit. However, it is definitely worth it!

Best advice: Let the house speak for itself.

Dream source: Design Within Reach.

I adore this house and the pictures that always make me smile are the high chair pulled up to the counter with the big folk's stools and the little kid's table off the side from the big table. Too cute!
