The LEED Platinum BrightBuilt Barn is a net-zero energy home that uses solar thermal panels and photovoltaic coupled with a super-insulated envelope to create enough energy to power the house off-the-grid. At the base of the house is an array of LED lights – they glow green when more power is being produced than consumed, conversely the lights glow red when the house is using more power than it’s producing.

What good is it if you can't see it from the inside?

Why not just have one small LED inside (like by your front door) instead of a whole array of wasted lights outside? It looks cool, but if you are that concerned about being green, extra LEDs are still waste, even if it is less waste.
