Hot or Not? Ovetto Differenziato (Recycling Egg)

10-09-2008ovetto.JPGForget those 3 home recycling storage solutions we were looking at a couple weeks ago. They were boring compared to this -- the Ovetto Differenziato (Recycling Egg) by Gianluca Soldi. It'll hold your recycling and your trash and it's made of recycled polypropylene. Treehugger calls it a "silly example of rampant green consumerism." What do you think?

Survey after the jump.

I think it looks kind of stupid
and I like to hold onto my recycling for a long time (because I have to drive it to the recycling station... don't get me started on that one) so its way too small for me

I'm missing more information on how it works or a website link about that egg. After looking at the Treehugger page the white-blue-yellow model reminds me of Pokémon. Designwise it looks nice as stand-alone, but I doubt it would fit to any other kitchen furniture. I stick to my paper bags which I re-use after shopping to collect glass and PET bottles.

this looks great, but i agree with treehugger. there is a distinct danger of someone purchasing this, leaving it idly in their home for a few months and then chucking it just to add to the waste on our earth. i think the bags you posted earlier are still the winner.

I live in a small flat and I have an open plan kitchen. My recycling didn`t fit at all under the sink and I needed a bin to leave outside the cupboards. Ovetto is great; it`s practical - stylish - funny and my children understood immediately the concept of separating waste with the help of colours. There is a plastic bottles and cans crusher at the top as well to reduce volume. Besides it`s made from recycled material and the assembly in Italy is carry out by social workers.
