A green idea and how-to combined. The Idea Index put together a great post on how to store your plastic bags for reuse. MK first saw this idea in use in Iceland which prompted further investigation - "As soon as I got home I had to figure out how to do it myself."

We are happy they did - the how-to for this simple, space-saving, smart way to deal with plastic bags is excellent, accompanied by 6 sets of easy-to-follow photos.
And! An added bonus from a commenter on the post: "very clever.... then one can play table top football with one".
We plan to have a few of these in the bottom of our purse for unexpected stops at the market from now on.
Any other thoughts on the subject? How do you store/reuse plastic bags?

This is such a fantastic idea. I feel like I am downing in grocery store bags everytime I reach under the sink. Makes me want to go fold them all up right now!

Every once in a while I take all the accumulated plastic bags and fold them up like this-- it condenses them a huge amount. I also use canvas bags, though, so I don't have as many plastic bags as I once did.

I shove them in that plastic bag storage from IKEA - works really well and doesn't take up much space at all. I wouldn't have the patience to fold bags, I hardly have enough patience to fold laundry.

This is a great idea that I learned a while ago on AT and have been using it since. Very easy to put a folded bag in my back pocket or the bag I carry every day. They are there when I need them. Never thought to do this before and it seems so obvious. I needed some one to show me. These kinds of posts keep bringing me back to the site day after day.

i got myself one of these and it has worked really well for storing my extra plastic bags until i need them for doggie cleanup in the yard.

The thing with folded plastic bags are its kinda difficult to judge the size of the thing after its all folded up, at first i ended up reopening a few to get the size i want for what i want to do.. but an idea is to fix the times of longituidinal folds, so that you end up with a bigger triangle for a bigger bag, and smaller triangle for a smaller bag...

a totally addictive activity. I found myself folding everything plastic, including the newspaper sleeves. But they look so cute folded.

Aha a green use for the old trying-to-fit-the-empty-crisp-packet in-the-pub-ashtray triangle! Of course that was back in the days when pubs actually had ashtrays...! (Damn smoking ban!)
