Stuff Sacks by Molly Mutt
One More Thing to do With Old Clothes!

If your pets our anything like ours, one of their favorite things to do is sit on clothes. It doesn't matter where, if there's a shirt folded somewhere our cat is sure to choose it for a place to snooze. So we found this great idea on the dooce blog to take a "Stuff Sack" from Molly Mutt, fill it with old clothes and make a purposeful clothing-filled pet bed. Click below the jump for more details!

Molly Mutt sells a mesh bag, called the Stuff Sack, to use as a pet bed insert. Simply fill the bag with old clothes (or any old fabrics such as towels or blankets) and insert the bag into a Molly Mutt duvet (or make your own). When it's time to clean the bed just throw the sack and all of it's contents directly into the washer. So easy!

We know a few cute furry creatures who would love this!

Sorry, but this doesn't do it for me. I'd rather donate my old clothes to charity than shove them away in a bag for my dog.

This would be ideal for those clothes that aren't in any shape for donating. Those old t-shirts that have holes everywhere, the pj bottoms where the elastic is coming through the waistband, etc. Not really fit for rags, so perfect for a dog bed!

We have two Molly Mutt duvets and LOVE them. I used an old, stained feather comforter. Also, our Doberman likes to chew up fleece blankets and socks, so we used all of those.

I think my kids would actually really love this as a landing pad off of the side of the couch, lol. And at least I know what my old clothes are made of--goodness knows what is in some of the polyfil materials inside pillows and dog beds!

Hmmm, would it be weird to buy this for a preschooler and a toddler?

As I was going through old clothes today, I came across several items that were too shabby to actually donate. So...... I take back my previous statement. Maybe this is a great idea after all. (Not to mention, we came home tonight to find our dog nestled in a pile of laundry.) And the duvet covers are really, really cute..... Hmmm.

I like this because dog beds are often hard to clean. Our Great Dane's bed filling is little shreds of stuff. At least to clean this, I just need to do a load of clothes.
