We don't have many issues with mosquitoes here in the Bay Area of California — at least not in Berkeley; however, if we did, we'd consider a bat house. (Although we've never seen a bat out here either ...)
Bats can eat their weight in insects. And they really like mosquitoes ...
Vixen Hill Bat Houses (pictured - $92) are made from scraps of western red cedar wood. The roofs are made from scrap copper.
Bats are a natural way to fight off mosquitoes, which can be a huge buzzkill in the summer months in some areas of the U.S. And even though we have an irrational fear of bats, we'd choose them over all the nasty ingredients in most bug sprays!
