Inspiration: Modern and Vintage Salvaged House
Dwell Archives

08_13_09_timber.jpgHow's this for mid-day inspiration? Take a look at the gorgeous and sometimes surprising mix of modern lines and vintage curves. This remodeled house makes beautiful use of timbers that were salvaged from a building more than a century old, and that's not all...

Salvaged windows, artfully arranged; salvaged timber stairs and beams; a pantry door salvaged from the Keebler factory (that still smells like cookies!); even a restored 1923 oven in the kitchen riddled with modern lines and concrete countertops. Architect Mike Moore of Tres Birds Workshop made sure details like these were present throughout the home.

We're in love, aren't you? See the entire slideshow at Dwell.
