We are constantly forgetting to bring our tote bags to Fairway with us. Then it hits us like a brick wall when we get to the register. AT reader Callie shared Envirosax bags with us. Then AT reader dpk pitched in with a helpful hint on actually remembering the bags when you head out the door:

Once you've gotten yourself those cool Envirosax bags, or something similar... Install a hook by your front door, or wherever you keep your keys, and hang the bag there so you remember to take it with you when you go shopping.
We know this will certainly help us, as we've generally kept our totes in a bin on the top shelf of the coat closet. Simply installing a hook on said closet door will work wonders to cut down on plastic bag useage. (Thanks, Callie and dpk!) Photo from Green Bags.
I put mine on my coffee table. The bright green clashes with the rest of the room and makes me get them back out to the car as soon as possible. As I have to drive to a grocery store, my bags live in the car.

I have one rolled up in my purse always, but I'm a big purse girl :)

I'm a-thinkin' that a hook for a well-chosen tote (or three) could allow the totes to cover an aesthetically troubling circuit breaker box in our new kitchen, which is right by the front door... solving two design problems in one.

I have 6 shopping totes in the trunk of my car; so I'm always ready for a big supermarket run. (And I have 1 tote in my coat closet for when I walk to the corner market or neighborhood drugstore.) After a couple of months, it became second nature to use the totes.

I always keep one of these in my bag. It rolls up into it's tiny case and when you pull it out you can carry groceries, library books, etc. It's roomy and strong!
