...game of Scrabble.
We got the candles burning, pulled out the Scrabble board, lit a fire, took this photo and settled in for a good game. We played long after 9pm, but left the lights off for the whole evening, enjoying the dark and quiet apartment....well quiet except for the occasional shout of..."what? is that really a word?".
If you turned off the lights during Earth Hour, let us know how it went and if you'll continue the tradition...we certainly will.

A.) I love scrabble or "scrabs" as we like to call it.
B.) I was so hyped up for lights-out night, we were driving up to Erie (2 hour drive) and we were going to get in at 7:30-8:00 and have "lights out" at our friend Dustin's. Unfortunately, we hit traffic when I picked up my boyfriend from work, and then he forgot something at the house so we had to go back home, and we didn't get into Erie until 9:30!! We lit some candles but the magic of the hour was gone, so bummed, but we will definitely participate next year!

one the engineers with whom i work wrote an email firm-wide saying the downside would likely be a power surge, and therefore powerfailures, at the close of earth hour.
hadn't thought of that. my feeling is, just keep the lights off all night. why not.
