Ever since we moved to Berkeley, we've been drooling over all of the stylish green apartment buildings and lofts that we pass during our various journeys through the East Bay.
However, there is one project in particular that has us all worked up: Dwight Way.
We want it. We want to run around and look at every little detail.

From the gate made of salvaged hatchbacks to the fence made of salvaged street signs, this place has it all:
•Zero-VOC paint
•Drought-tolerant plants
•Solar power
•Salvaged wood
We first read about Dwight Way in Dwell, and then we happened upon it during a Sunday afternoon walk. Confession: We're mildly obsessed.
For now, we'll just gaze admiringly from the outside.
But mark our words: We're finding a way in. And when we do, there will be pictures. Oh, will there be pictures ...
it's so beautiful i could cry.

That fence is so cute!
Go by on a weekend during reasonable hours and see if anyone is working in the yard. People with cool building projects expect a certain amount of questions from passers-by.

Why aren't all houses like this?

I remember the Dwell article--maybe they had a green issue?--and I think it focused on the wrong things - there were hardly any pics of the interiors, as I recall; instead, mostly of the recycled signs and stuff outside. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong. They could have done a really interesting piece on this, because it's beautiful and green. Ah, the Dwell disillusionment continues...

I've driven by this house a million times and every time I go by I am more intrigued. I think the outside is so well done. Would love to see the inside as well.
