Inspiration: Community Patchwork
Austin

010709commpatch-01.jpg This being the month for bedrooms, we felt this awesome community patchwork project we stumbled across during Austin's famous First Night celebrations was worth showing. It reminds us of curling up under a warm patchwork quilt. Not only did we love the idea behind it, it really looks cool too! More after the jump...

010709commpatch-02.jpg There didn't seem to be any informational signs, and the noise from the New Year's Eve celebrations proved too loud to ask for more info, but whatever the origins of these two temporary structures, we found them to be both exciting and inspirational. Sporting tubs of old clothes scraps and needles and thread, anyone from the crowd could participate in the sewing of this giant patchwork tent.

010708commpatch-03.jpg We loved the idea of using old clothes in such an informal and casual patchwork way and have seen this idea applied to items like furniture, curtains, wallpaper, and accessories.

010709commpatch-04.jpg Although this is definitely more like extreme patchworking, we sure think this could inspire a few of your own patchworking projects! What do you think?
