apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Housing for Homeless in LA

We've spent the last 10 minutes or so clicking through a slideshow of images from various apartment buildings in Los Angeles — all of which were designed to help and house the homeless population. The purpose behind the buildings is fantastic, but we're still hung up on the awesome design...

According to the captions, the buildings aren't overtly green. We don't see any mention of denim insulation or dual flush toilets. However, the designs obviously make small spaces seem generous (we think we spied a Murphy bed), and utilize natural cooling and heating mechanisms, as well as natural light.

Words won't really do the images justice, so we recommend that you check them out yourself.
