Inspiration: Rachel Denny's "A Proper Lady"

Walk into any vintage clothing store and you see gloves — thin white kid gloves, crochet gloves, gloves with buttons at the wrist or lace — left over from a time when people wore gloves in their daily life!! We pick them up, maybe try them on...and then put them back. So smooth, so pretty, but really, what are we going to do with them?...

Artist Rachel Denny has come up with the answer. Her A Proper Lady rug takes those gloves and gives them new life, layering them into a textured rug.

Try this yourself: Find a piece of sturdy cotton or linen and take those gloves you've coveted, collected or inherited and stitch them on. Live in a colder climate? Here's a way to use those single gloves that sit in drawers, waiting in vain for their mates. Hmmm...might want to try the same idea with socks... For more of Rachel's work, click here

This rug is very cool. It reminds me of Nani Marquina's work.

I can't see this anywhere but a pretentious gimmicky modern faux-art museum.
