Rewarding Good, Green Behavior

tokens_for_bags_web.jpgOver the weekend we went to the thrift store Buffalo Exchange and bought a polka dot silk top for $7. After our purchase, we received a token worth 5 cents, which we then donated to the charity of our choice. Know why we got the token?

We didn't need a plastic bag.

There's three boxes on the wall at Buffalo Exchange and you put your token into the box of the charity you want to support. We love the concept that this takes: rewarding us for good plastic bag behavior instead of charging us. There's stores in a cities across the country, and in another green step, they give you store credit towards clothes that you bring in and they think they can resell. Definitely makes us want to continue shopping there!
