An Environmentally-Friendly Update to Acoustic Insulation

ecose-sz-100509.jpg When it comes to acoustic-friendly insulation, sound quality tends to overpower eco-friendliness. In the last year or so though, companies have been coming out with alternatives to formaldehyde and phenol packed insulation. The latest is from Knauf Insulation, which makes Ecose insulation from naturally occurring and/or recycled raw materials...

According to Electronic House, "Knauf’s new ECOSE Technology binder does not contain petroleum-based chemicals, formaldehyde, phenols and those other baddies. It can also be molded into multi-density boards to achieve various acoustical properties. Best of all, Kinetics Noise Control [the company that uses the insulation] says is doesn’t cost any more than its previous, not-so-green products."
