Getting a package in the mail is a great thing -- especially when you aren't expecting one.
On Saturday, a small brown package arrived in our mailbox.
We opened it, without the slightest idea what it might be, and were surprised/confused to find that CFL in the picture.
We scratched our heads ... and then we remembered Yahoo! Green.
It seems like centuries ago that we signed on at Yahoo! Green, clicked through their Green Action Plan workshop, and browsed through a number of their green living tips.
Somewhere during that experience we also supplied our address and were promised a CFL as a reward for pledging to take action against climate change.

Well, here's the CFL (with proper disposal instructions printed on the package).
Honestly, we had almost forgotten about Yahoo's Green initiative, but their cool gesture has us clicking around again.
Check it out, and let us know what you think.
Oh, and did anyone else out there get a free CFL?
I just went to the site. I'm going to tell you what I think. This is the WORST carbon footprint calculator I have ever run across, and I've run across quite a few.
It hugely overestimates the carbon emissions the household causes. For example, I have 100% wind power, so technically, I shouldn't be having any carbon emissions from that (and even if I didn't have wind power, it doesn't even factor in how many kilowatt hours I'm using anyway; so it makes an average estimate...which is highly inaccurate). Another example is that I drive a car that gets 40 mpg, but this figured it as a car that gets about 30 mpg.
Make a plan of action? I have my plan and I'm working on it, but damned if this calculator won't make room for it.

I got mine on monday. I can't remember what you were supposed to do to get more (I think it was answer a question for someone on Yahoo! answers). But I got too. I was really amazed that there was a minimal package and that the bulbs weren't broken.
These came at the perfect time, as the last two 'normal' light bulbs just burnt out.
