Look!: Spega Yogurt Glasses

Form, function and a tasty treat. We heart this Italian yogurt bigtime. Not only is it delicious but we're left with a perfect little glass at the end of snack-time. We've been collecting these vessels over the years and have come up with a variety of practical uses.

Our favorites include (but are not limited to) impromptu wine glasses (for when the guests outnumber our barware), votive candle holders and simple vases for rooting our plant cuttings. We buy Spega Yogurt at our local Trader Joe's, but we've also seen it at Andronico's and Farmer Joe's in the East Bay.

Those But, oy! The footprint left by shipping yogurt in heavy glass containers from Italy is pretty big...

I can't believe a "green" website is advocating imported Italian yogurt in glass jars!

Hello, carbon footprint!

I am a big fan of Spega. I don't buy it often but over the years I have also accumulated a small collection of great glass cotnainers. Fill them with rocks and they're perfect for bamboo. They're also great for giving homemade gifts.

the carbon footprint issue. if I get all my produce from a local farmers market that I walk to and use my own bag, take public transportation to work, etc, etc, etc. and I want cinnamon Spega once in a while - I buy it and enjoy it. I'm from Berkeley, it's hard to make me feel bad.
