Really, could she be any more creepy? Or is it just the repressed memory bubbling back up that perverts what should be a cute public service ad?
Note: to be fair, this isn’t really a Girl Scout; her uniform is artfully cropped to remove any evidence of organizational affiliation. And, as we learned since our first experience, the original Girl Scout/CFL/Scientology connection was in no way officially sanctioned, and almost certainly the result of a renegade troop leader. But still, the nightmares!
The link in this post to an earlier article is 404, and I just don't get the point. It's creepy because scientologists are creepy? Or girl scouts? Or fake girl scouts? You have to put a little more depth if you're trying to frighten people to go with you on your causes.
I got here because the apartment therapy/la link was sending me here, but it's kind of weird. I don't usually read this site but it's not what I thought. I guess it's fixed now.

Zombie scouts...pushing cookies or lightbulbs are just WRONG!

I have a strong suspicion that the first commenter is a Scientologist spy... but I should keep quiet. (too late? lol)
But that is seriously creepy. Perhaps I, too, am thinking that way because of the connection in this post between that ad and Scientology; and the website on that ad does seem like a pretty harmless California agency (yeah, I had to check it out). But still. It's not that the girl herself is creepy, it's just her expression. Bad ad agency, I say.

I'm not a spy! Or a scientologist.
I read the post and the link I tried didn't work, so I thought it was a really weird association, a swift leap to a very strange conclusion. I see a girl who is a scout of some kind with the CFLs. I don't see any boogiemen in that picture but maybe it's subliminal!
I've read the previous post by now, but I think that had to have been a situation rigged by one of the parents rather than to continue lumping all these organizations into one rolled conspiracy. The girl is not really creepy but she does look like she talks with a high whine. Recyyyyycle! Use a more efficient liiiiiight bulb!
I guess in the end, what it says to me is that it's pretty easy to organize a group of kids and propagandize them any way you want to, and they will push for you (not saying the CFLs are bad per se, but you can get a group of kids to nag adults about anything you pretty much want to have them do).

I've seen these ads around. Definitely found it creepy. Don't know if it's the expression on the girl's face, the fact that the CFLs look like some kind of bottles or the confrontational atmosphere of the picture.
