Look! Swing-Arm Lamp as Planter

3-10-09-lamp-planter.jpg

This vase by Marc Ligos was born out of a workshop by Surtido, an organization promoting up and coming Spanish designers. While this is a ceramic piece attached to the desk lamp arm, it gives us an idea for creative reuse of the real thing.

We'd have to use glue to keep the arm in place so it doesn't bend under the weight of the plant, but it would be extra awesome if something like this retained its ability to be repositioned.

designboom has a great post featuring more of the ceramic pieces produced in the workshop.

This is really nice. I am always trying to think of interesting things to re-use as planters. Its expensive buying any planters that are anything other than boring and basic.

this is pretty cool. I've run out of window sills, so this might be my next plant location. I think the main thing is to get rid of the wiring (easy with the cheaper Ikea ones that are wired on the outside) A light enough plant and there shouldn't be any issues. I'm imagining one of those water-drop like succulents.
