Look! You Are What You Eat
What does your fridge say about you?

Consider what resides in your refrigerator: would it provide some insight into your household consumption? Mark Menjivar explores the issue of hunger and the effects of consumption via photography in "You Are What You Eat," a collection of photo portraits of strangers' refrigerators...

These photos were taken by photographer Mark Menjivar in which he photographed the contents of strangers' refrigerators. I was entertained by the assumptions that might be made based on these photos. Couch potato? Athlete? Someone who cares about the environment? Someone who obviously doesn't?

What would your fridge say about you?

From the Artist:

"These are portraits of the rich and the poor. Vegetarians, Republicans, members of the NRA, those left out, the under appreciated, former soldiers in Hitler’s SS, dreamers, and so much more. We never know the full story of one's life. My hope is that we will think deeply about how we care. How we care for our bodies. How we care for others. And how we care for the land."

Subject 1 eats a lot of processed food.
Subject 2 eats a lot of takeout, supplemented by easy fresh food.
Subject 3 mostly eats out, and doesn't keep the leftovers.

Subject 4 is possibly a hunter. I assume he's going to have the snake stuffed, because if they planned to eat it, they'd have skinned it. Well, not necessarily true.

Subject 5... doesn't really eat much at all, but lives on beer.
Subject 6 used to have a cow, and should probably get rid of that ? grapefruit?
Subject 7 has health problems, possibly including obesity or food poisoning. I'm really mystified by the flag-looking thing.

Ew. Nothing worst than bad food in a fridge... :-/ My tolerance stops at when I forget the zucchinis at the back of the fridge and they go mush...

omg I hate snakes and that freaks me out.

I would say I have some components from some of those fridges. But I hate it when no one else in the house cleans out old leftovers.
