Amazon.com: Frustration-Free Packaging

11-05-2008ship.jpgNews Flash: Amazon.com, famous for its over-packaging and annoying bubble wrap, is making some real efforts to clean up its act. Just recently (and just in time for the holidays), they've announced their Frustration-Free Packaging Initiative.

Amazon's Frustration-Free Packaging Initiative is an effort to cut down on unnecessary packaging, substitute plastic containers with recyclable cardboard packaging, and make opening something from Amazon a more pleasant experience in general.

We think it's a great idea and can only hope they'll expand the initiative to more products.

From the Amazon product description for the Fisher-Price Imaginext Adventures Pirate Ship (picture above): This item is delivered in an easy-to-open recyclable box and eliminates 36 inches of wire ties, 1,576.5 square inches of package inserts, and 36.1 square inches of printed carton materials. Also eliminated are 175.25 square inches of PVC blisters, 3.5 square inches of ABS molded styrene, and two plastic fasteners

We like it!

This is great news. I'm so sick of overpackaging.

BTW, you might want to say "Christian holidays." For many of us, the time of year that we'd call "the holidays" is over.
