On Thursday, California took a big step towards energy independence. A new policy means that windmills and solar panels are going to be a much more common sight in California...
New regulations set a goal for all new housing developments built in the state to be zero net energy by 2020. That means other state agencies now have to work together to adapt a number of regulations, such as building code, to meet the new goal.
Progress doesn't happen overnight, so we're thrilled to see at least one state setting a challenging, but reachable, goal to reduce energy use.
