ProQuo: Another Way to Stop Junk Mail

8-11-2008proquo.jpg

We've seen a number of online services that can help you get rid of your junk mail: Green Dimes, Catalog Choice, and for the uber-motivated there's always the phone (yes, you can call many companies and asked to be removed from their mailing lists).

Now, there's a new kid on the block. New to us, at least.

ProQuo offers a free solution to junk mail. Sign up, and the company will apparently help in removing your names from all those awful databases and lists that are bought and sold just so someone can send you a postcard about "more ways to lose weight."

And, it's free.

Our junk mail is finally under control -- but, if you're still drowning in a pile of unwanted ads and catalogs, this might be worth a shot.

Find out more here.

And just for the horror of it, here's a little junk mail fact from the people at ProQuo:
Approximately 100 million trees are used every year to send nearly four tons of junk mail to American consumers.

The thing is, those junk mailings will still be produced, and if enough people do this, the cost of mail will skyrocket.

Why not just recycle them? They're probably not going to get recycled just saying at their point of origin.
