Similar to marquetry, the tape takes the place of a thin veneer. By carefully covering the entire surface of the furniture, it becomes "new" again. This is an economical and crafty way to save damaged pieces. Via: dezeen.

I totally love this idea...
Is it clear coated?- Otherwise there would be tape edges getting mucked up?
