Radius Toothbrush: Now in Flax and Recycled Currency

01-05-2009radius.jpgWhen I was younger one of my favorite Christmas gifts was a Radius toothbrush. I loved the big handle and ergonomic design - they even make separate designs for right handed people and lefties. Over the years they’ve rolled out variations on their design, and now their most recent, the Source Toothbrush, which was already being made of tree cellulose, is now offered in two additional environmentally friendly options - flax and recycled currency.

It’s no surprise that Radius was founded by two architects looking for a great functional and enjoyable toothbrush design. Rather than make separate toothbrushes for right or left handed folks, the Source toothbrush handle actually swivels to meet your hand orientation needs.

Likely due to the 6500 bristle count, the company claims that the toothbrushes last up to three months longer than a standard toothbrush. Additionally, the Source toothbrush head is replaceable, meaning that only part of the product needs to be replaced, rather than the entire toothbrush.

The packaging is made from SmartCycle plastic, which is derived from 50% recycled plastic bottles. The company is currently working on a new plant-based packaging that will be fully compostable, and post-consumer recyled paper cardstock backing.

I love these, the extra wide brush really gets everything clean and it's true that they last for an extra long time. I clean mine in some hydrogen peroxide and it looks and performs great even after about a year!
