Recycled Sailcloth Dog Bed by Ella Vickers

saildog.091508.jpgWe spend a lot of time dreaming of owning a dog. Hours go by looking online at those available for adoption; afternoons are spent lurking by the dog run. It's even gotten to the point where we make up scenarios on what life might be like if we did get a puppy.

And ever since we spotted this recycled sailcloth dog bed? Well, the little guy's never napped better.

You might recall Ella Vickers's eco-friendly shower curtains that we've featured before. Their dog bed is made using the same material, discarded or ripped yachts sails, and is handcrafted in the U.S.

We love that it easily zips around two king size pillows. Plus it's weather, stain, pest and mildew resistant. It wipes clean, dries easily, and is nearly indestructible to clawing. For other eco-friendly dog beds, check out this link for 6 options.

Now only if we had a dog...

I love Ella Vickers' line!!! I decided to carry them in my store because they are so awesome. What a lot of people don't realize is that they actually come in three sizes. They aren't advertised on her site that way however they are listed on mine that way. I also carry a really cool duffel shaped pet carrier from her! I love the crispness of the white sail cloth. It looks great and is easy to maintain.

Now, while I like the looks and as much as I wanted my dog to love and use one of these in the house she chose differently. I had just finished a big show and brought all the product back in to my condo... stacking boxes and beds where ever I could find room. After I get out of the shower I see that my boxer has pulled ALL of the different beds off the bench where I had them stacked and has apparently performed a bit of her own goldilocks and the three bears.... she passed over Bella Creature Comforts, West Paw and Ella Vickers...settling into a Big Shrimpy. Thankfully it's a floor model and not actually for sale.
