Welcome: Re-nesting with Pets

9-8-2008kitten.jpg

In case you hadn't noticed, we're about a week into Pet Month here at Re-nest. We're having a blast and, as always, would love to hear about any tips or tricks (or favorite products) that help you live with your pets in a greener way.

And in case you've missed any of the action, all of our September pet links are listed after the jump.

About the greenest things you can do with your pet are spay/neuter and adopt from a shelter. Also, provide entertainment and toys so your cat or dog doesn't hunt wildlife.

I enjoy so much time with my 'recycled' kitties I probably drive less...

definitely use only environmentally cleaning products (seventh generation) and a steam mop for my floors. i also only feed them organic food (newman's own). :)

I use a vinegar solution to clean countertops in the bathroom (yes, my cats jump up there to drink water from the faucet if it happens to be dripping... not often) and the floor in the kitchen. Okay, and the countertops in the kitchen because they jump up there even though they're not supposed to. I've found that it's lessened the cat puke spots I have to clean up.

Cute kitten. My current crop of furballs include two strays, one drop off, one pound pussy and one purebred from a breeder. He was a meezer gift to fill the void when my 17 year old meezer went to great sandbox in the sky. All are spayed/neutered and totally house cats. They might kill the occasional mouse or housefly but they're too well-fed to eat their kill. Their cat perches and bench were recycled wood and leftover carpet (thanks to my Dad who built them). That's about as green as my cats get unless you count the eyes on a couple of them.
