Zogoflex from West Paw Design

7_8_2008-green-pets.jpgWe've got a dog that can destroy just about any toy you give her, so West Paw Design's confidence in their Zogoflex material (it's plastic) got our attention—they'll replace a damaged toy once. Plus, they recycle the old one.

Comments on their site show that some dogs can and do chew through the material... but on the other hand, one person claimed their dog chewed through a black Kong. Is that even possible?

We're thinking it's worth a try, and the prices, as dog toys go, aren't too bad. They're made in Montana.

7_8_2008-zisc.jpgThe Zisc Frisbee is $13.50.

7_8_2008-hurley-dog-toy.jpgThe Hurley fetch toy is $9.50.

7_8_2008-huck.jpgHuck is a floating ball for $8.50.

7_8_2008-tux-group.jpgAnd the $14.50 Tux, also shown above, is West Paw's answer to the Kong.

Our American Bulldog destroys all toys, but has not yet chewed through the Tux. The only problem is that the treats fall out rather easily and our dog looses interest when there is no longer food in it.

Our favorite "eco-toys" are large hemp rope bones. They last a long time and don't stink like the cotton ones.

My parents' goldendoodle eats Hurleys for breakfast, unfortunately. I saw the sad remains of the last one when I was home a week ago. He's a pretty big dog (about a hundred pounds), though, so maybe something smaller wouldn't be able to.

And yeah, I bet there are dogs who can chew through black kongs. A determined dog can do a stunning amount of damage.

I still love this company; considering the toys are honest-to-goodness American-made and can be recycled, I think the price can't be beat.
The beds are worth checking out too; they're quite expensive but super-easy to clean and really comfortable. (speaking from experience :)
