apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Green at CB2

7_24_2008-lanai.jpgWe spotted a few green items in the new CB2 catalog, along with a few wood items that made us wonder. For example: should "plantation grown" and "sustainable" be used together?

Overall, we didn't see much green, which was a bit surprising. We did like the room above, which shows the lanai table ($599 and sold out) and bench ($329 and still available as of now.) They are said to be made of "plantation-grown solid shesham wood," though, with no certification, you'll be buying on trust alone.

On the other hand, the recycled content of a few other things we spotted was quite obvious:

The recycled tin tray ($59.95) and mirror ($99.95) are fun and colorful. Most metal gets recycled, however, so this may be a green solution in search of a problem.

This $6.95 placemat is made from difficult-to-recycle milk and juice cartons. This, we like without reservation: it's definitely green, but understated.

One more green thing about CB2: they're printing their catalog on FSC-certified paper from mixed sources with 10% recycled content.
