What's not to like about housing that incorporates great design, energy efficiency, and a small footprint (carbon and otherwise)? We're big fans of prefab, green housing here at Re-Nest, so when a reader sent us the tip to check out Cottage in a Day, we couldn't resist. And with the largest one's price tag hovering around the "affordable" zone, we knew they merited a show-and-tell. According to their site's FAQs, the cottages "dramatically exceed the National Association of Homebuilders green standards." Jump below for links.

Well, this gives me hope if I ever manage to buy property anywhere.

Thanks for writing about Cottage in a Day on your blog. We certainly appreciate the attention to all of our hard work. In an effort to keep the record straight, Cottage in a Day is a business that hired architect Michael Fitzhugh "to draw" a previously determined design, arrived at
through focus groups, design salons, and transportation limitations. While Michael is a talented young architect, which is why we selected him to be part of the team, he did not design the Cottage in a Day concept.
Thanks, and keep watching us. The website is:www.cottageinaday.com. Tons of information there.
