House Arc for Haiti

2-2-2010arc.jpg

Take a look at the House Arc (brought to you by the same people who designed the Bike Arc). We blogged the House Arc before, when it was a concept. Now we get to look at the real thing.

The House Arc is modular, off-grid, 150-square feet, can be packed flat in a box that is 4x10x3 feet, and can be reassembled by your Average Joe.

For all of these reasons, designer Joseph Bellomo is trying to find sponsors interested in sending these homes to Haiti. We think that makes perfect sense. Not only are they incredibly shippable, they're also beautiful.

The prototype above is being built for a client in Hawaii.

Beautiful. However at $100K each you've got to be kidding or smoking. $100K in the Caribbean would build a mansion. Hopefully someone has better sense then to spend $100K on one abode.
