Intershelter Temporary Dome Homes

03_19_09_domes.jpgTake a look at these domed temporary dwellings. There's not a downside to them: they're designed to withstand hurricane-force winds and intense snowstorms; they're able to work off renewable energy sources and can be completely off the grid; they're energy-efficient and can fit, unassembled, in the bed of a pickup truck.

The InterShelter has been getting a lot of press lately--check out this short article from the NYT--and we are especially into the idea that these can be used for emergency relief (think Hurricane Katrina). They're reusable for up to 50 years.

What do you think? Will we be seeing these domes pop up across the land?
