Preserve: Toothbrushes Made from Yogurt Cups

11_13_09_preserve_toothbrush.jpgYogurt is one of our favorite foods. We buy it in the quart-sized containers and re-use those at home, since in our city we can't recycle #5 plastics. But Preserve—the company we know so well from their cutting boards and other eco-friendly kitchen necessities—uses that #5 plastic to make toothbrushes. In seven bright colors, no less. One more way to make your bathroom even greener.

These toothbrushes have it all:

• They're made of recycled plastic
• They're BPA-free
• Once it's time to replace the toothbrush, you send it back to Preserve to get recycled into plastic lumber

Oh, and it'll clean your teeth! Find out more on Preserve's site, here.

I like these, and I use them, but the bristles wear out about twice as fast as regular drug store toothbrushes. I've been wondering if it's better to use TWO recycled toothbrushes or one ordinary one.

Preserve also makes razors. I buy them (and the toothbrushes) at Whole Foods. Love 'em!
