The ReCYCLEry is a local not-for-profit organization in North Carolina that provides a community workspace centered around bikes: education, salvaging old bikes, and creating bikes for transportation and recreation. But it's not alone. There are similar establishments throughout the country...
The ReCYCLEry in Carrboro, North Carolina allows community members to exchange volunteer hours for a bike, to develop new skills, and to contribute to the blue bike program (a community bike program).
But there are other spaces that are similar such as the Davis Bike Church / Davis Bike Collective (Pictured above and located in Davis, CA) and 1304 Bikes (Raleigh, North Carolina).

Community Cycles in Boulder, CO sounds a lot like the reCYCLEry. They work to educate the community on bicycle safety maintenance and have a program to get a bike you build yourself in trade for work hours.
