Building with Beer Bottles: Buddhist Temples

10-28-08-bottlebuilding2.jpgRemember those square Heinecken bottles designed to be reused as building blocks once they had been consumed? Well, these Thai monks didn't wait for bottles to become square, they simply used a little creativity and built their temples from whatever recycled materials they could find.

Using over one million recycled glass bottles to construct their Buddhist temple, these Thai monks from the Sisaket province utilize the resources they have around them, including their dedication to the environment and recycling.

Not only were they able to create a functional and necessary structure to their daily lives, but as a result they were able to help clean up some of the local pollution, and a reminder of the waste humans generate.
