Cool News: Recycling Cell Phones Just Got Easier

If you're participating in our Green Cure next week, you'll probably be spending a lot of time cleaning out drawers and getting organized. Whenever we clean out drawers, we're always haunted by a handful of old cellphones that we've been ignoring. We haven't recycled them yet. But maybe now we will! Meet the EcoATM...

The EcoATM is a contraption that looks like an ATM but is used to recycle cell phones. Stick your old phone in and the machine analyzes it to see what it's worth, then it gives you a price. If you accept the price it'll spit out an in-store gift card. If your phone isn't worth anything, you can still recycle it and you'll get a free water-proof phone case.

The EcoATM already made its debut at at the Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha and was hugely successful. More of them should be popping up all over—and there are plans for them to accept other gadgets in the near future.

We hope we get to try one out really soon.

Not to get all self-righteous, but for the few bucks you'll probably get from this, hopephones.com seems like a better option...
