Glass Fishbowl Made of Recycled Windshields

4-24-08-fishbowl.jpg

We found this over at Uncommon Goods, and we'd love to see it in use, full of colorful fish. The two-handled shape reminds us of a Victorian punchbowl, and it in fact could be used as one, or as a vase, or for storage.

In fact, we're not quite sure why Uncommon Goods landed on fishbowl as its first use. The glass is slightly greenish (from the anti-glare treatment for its original function) and just under a foot tall and wide. $65 here.

I'd hate to see this with fish in, save MAYBE a single betta. Bowls like this and traditional "goldfish bowls" are death-traps for fish. Toxins build up far too quickly, temperature cannot be safely regulated, and the size simply is unfit for most fish.

It would make a lovely gardenia bowl or flower vase.
