Looking for a Resource to Help You Reduce and Reuse?

Outbox.jpg

Between spring cleaning and our Cure outbox, we've found ourselves with a wide variety of excess stuff that we want to pass along to a good home. Because it can sometimes be hard to figure out exactly who might benefit from a given donation, we were delighted to learn that one local jurisdiction has done the initial research for us...

The Montgomery County Division of Solid Waste Services has developed an online Use It Again database to help those looking to donate and those looking to benefit from those donations. The database covers a wide range of donations including air filters, craft supplies, toys and medical equipment to name just a few.

We'll continue to use Craigslist to deal with large items like electronics and furniture, but were delighted with this new resource to help us deal with smaller items that we can easily deliver. Do you have any favorite reuse resources to share?

I am a big fan of Freecycle.org

Here in NYC, Wasteless (http://www.nyc.gov/html/nycwasteless/html/home/home.shtml) is also a good resource.
