Cork is such a cool, versatile material. When we finish a bottle of wine, it hurts us to throw away a perfectly good cork. So, for years we've saved ours for various craft projects.
But, what if you aren't all that crafty (or just don't feel like putting together another DIY cork board)? Then what do you do with all those corks? Well, definitely don't toss 'em! We just found a solution.
Terracycle, a company we heart big time, has launched the Cork Brigade (i.e., a cork recycling program). They'll take your corks, which you can mail in batches of 10 - 30, and turn them into cool products. We recommend getting a big bag of corks together before mailing.
If you're in the wine business (or just have a huge collection of corks -- we're talking 200 or more) you might even be able to take advantage of prepaid UPS shipping.

Corks can also be tossed into the compost. You may want to break them up a bit so they decompose quicker but its not necessary.
