Rentagreenbox.com: A Zero Waste Moving Solution

earthfriendly_atla121007.jpgWe recently surveyed our readers about what they did with their empty household boxes, and many commentors mentioned using or donating boxes for moving purposes. A great idea, since reusing is preferable to recycling.

In a similar vein, EarthFriendlyMoving's Rentagreenbox.com packing and moving system forgoes the waste produced during the moving process by renting RecoPacks, containers made of plastic bottles and available in 5 different sizes, alongside recycled wrapping and packing paper (compost friendly), and corn based packing tape all delivered right to your home via vegetable oil and bio-fuel powered trucks. When you're all done with your move, they come back and pick up all the boxes/supplies, leaving your new home without the usual mess.

spencer1_atla121007.jpgFounder Spencer Brown is so confident of his service, he's currently offering first time customers their first 10 Recopacks free; just use the code "EFM-promo-01", good for one more per household with a minimum order required. We might have to take Spencer up on his offer next time we move. Moving packages start at $169 for two weeks and come with everything- recopacks, 100% recycled packing paper, geami ( replacement for bubble wrap), dolly, labels, markers, corn based packing tape and complete instructions.

Sounds like a brilliant alternative and I am in. I've been through few moving processes in my time and all the organizing tasks drove me crazy. These reusable boxes would come in handy of a lot of people. As for the transport I am interested in truck rental , I hope the company allows personalized services. Nice job Spence!
