We've heard references to rugs that feel like sweaters under your toes...a great marketing tool or an enthusiastic owner singing the praises of a favorite new rug.
But we just learned that there are actually rugs made from old sweaters; and they are called none other than sweater rugs.
A Massachusetts-based textile designer has been creating these for 15 years from reclaimed sweaters.

This site is HORRIBLE - yes, their things are adorable, yes, the eco-message is wonderful - however they have REPUGNANT business practices. do not order ANYTHING from them! they SCREWED ME OVER last christmas! i ordered this BEAUTIFUL wreath from them and they guaranteed shipping OVERNIGHT (which i also paid for) and then the wreath FINALLY SHOWED UP in the MIDDLE OF MARCH!!! and i called, demanding a refund, and they said "oh, well, we were just about to call you to tell you that those wreaths are backordered- you're on our list" and i could have KILLED THEM - i filed a complaint with the better business bureau
i was IRATE
they took the money at the time that i ordered it - and then they never did what they were supposed to
really really really really don't order anything from them

If you see a copy of Twenty Easy Machine Made Rugs, http://www.amazon.com/Twenty-Easy-Machine-Made-Creative-Machine/dp/0801980194/ref=sr_1_1/002-4466048-3333602?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1193954437&sr=8-1, by Jackie Dodson, buy it. It is only 80 cents at Amazon marketplace. She shows you all sorts of ways to recycle things into comfy rugs. Some projects are faster than others, but craft is all about the process. "That bathroom rug? Oh, just some old t-shirts left behind by my ex."
