In the case of an emergency, I've actually had visions of tying sheets together. But then I learned this simple (and much quicker) safety measure...
Use a rope ladder! We still remember to stop, drop, and roll, but no one had told us to stash a rope ladder before. We thought it was a good safety tip: a rope ladder can easily be stored under a bed in case of a fire or an emergency, for a quick exit through a second story window.
