Green Event: National Park(ing) Day 2008

Do you wish your city had more parks and less parking? Or, at least, just more parks?

Even if you don't, you still might want to get involved with National Park(ing) Day, simply because it looks like a lot of fun. It takes place this Friday, September 19.

National Park(ing) Day is what the Trust for Public Land calls "an opportunity to celebrate parks in cities and promote the need for more parks by creating temporary public parks in public parking spaces."

So, on Park(ing) Day, pranksters, and environmentalists, and public artists across the nation will hijack city parking spots and build mini, temporary parks.

It's not too late to get involved. Here's a list of all the cities where organized Park(ing) Days are taking place. Click on your city to get more info about local Park(ing) Day events.

Have you ever participated in a Park(ing) Day? What was it like?
