Green Event: San Francisco's AltCraft and Green Craft

strata-shelf081408.jpg This weekend, 250 artists are setting up shop at the American Craft Council show at San Francisco's Fort Mason Center. The 33 year old show debuts two new exhibitions, with spaces dedicated to DIY artists and those who use recycled materials. The scrap plywood Strata table lamp is by Donna Brady of Re-Surface, whose graffiti lampshades we’ve blogged about before. corellcombo081408.jpg

Green Craft includes Robin Corell, who only uses salvaged wood to create benches, armoires, and sculpture. Those are details of a few of his gorgeous pieces above.

AltCraft highlights a dozen DIY artists. Besides Donna at Re-Surface, a favorite is Patty Benson, over at Papa Ververt who hand-crocheted these warm and fuzzy plant cozies.
