The Babooshka Lamps were cut from a single block of solid wood crafted from scraps and off-cuts. They are designed to hang on a bare bulb without needing any special fittings.

Are these really "green"? If this furniture is truly strong enough to use, there has to be some insane glue holding all those little pieces together. If the recombining of the scrap wood uses lots of synthetic chemicals and requires tons of processing (and therefore electricity), it may be more eco-friendly to simply compost the scrap and begin anew with untreated wood. Trees are after all renewable if managed responsibly.

I think these pieces are beautiful, but I also wonder - how are they being held together? Some kind of magic joinery, or maybe non-toxic glues? I couldn't find any more info on her website.
