Green Idea: Recycled Wine Barrel Chair

2007-06-05-wine.jpg Making your outdoor space a bit greener than it already is.

This folding chair is made from salvaged oak wine barrels, meaning that it is not only very recycled (95% recycled content) but is made from wood which has already lived a useful life complete with pleasant connotations of bucolic vineyards.

The design is smart - it folds up flat for off season storage. The finish is also simple and green: linseed oil.

To top it off, the retailer, Bluehouse, carbon offsets its deliveries.

Available from Bluehouse for $159.

Here's another company that makes furniture from dismantled redwood and oak wine vats: Vintage redwood Company. I've seen one of their tables, and I was impressed.

I wonder how this would be as an inside chair, with cushions?
