Knit Chair by Pirwi

2-5-pirwi.jpg

This chair is expensive. For the money, sure, there are a few other things that we might go for first (a significant portion of the down payment on a home, say). But now that we've gotten that out of the way, we can move on to what we like about it.

The chair is made from plywood disks, knitted together with cotton rope. This results in a flexible chair that molds to the sitter's body, while still firmly supporting it. It's scoopy shape and the soft connections between the pieces of plywood -- not one monolithic piece -- adds to its unassuming good looks.

Though for $5,245, perhaps we wouldn't mind if the chair assumed something. Or did the laundry maybe.

Check it out here.

(Also available at Branch.)
