Simple Green: Repel Mosquitoes With Rosemary

05_06_09_rosemary.jpg

You may not have the early summer joys of mosquitoes just yet, but in the south, the spring weather brings plenty of humidity, so we're already slapping at our limbs and cursing the little blood suckers. We've got plenty of citronella, but that doesn't always do the trick. So when a friend clued us in to something much simpler, we listened up. Rosemary is the answer...

Rosemary oil is a natural bug repellent, so if you have the plant growing near your place, just grab a couple of sprigs, break them, and rub the oil on your legs and arms. You'll smell like an Italian side dish, and you'll be bite-free.

Also, if you place rosemary in your window planters and every now and again crush a few leaves, the mosquitos won't even come near your home :)

You can do the same thing with oregano, basil, or lavender, as well.
